gp23Your new Knife is hand made from 01 Tool Steel heat treated to HRC62-63.

This is a high carbon tool steel and will rust if not cared for. DO NOT PUT THIS KNIFE IN A DISH WASHER! You will be very disappointed with the result. Hand wash after use, dry and oil with whatever oil you use in the kitchen(handle and blade).

This blade WILL stain from use, acidic foods will discolor the blade. This is normal for the steel and poses no health threat Or damage to the blade. Like cooking with cast iron, it will age, color and develop its own character over the years.

You can resharpen the blade using any modern methods, my recommendation is with a stone, either natural or diamond. If you’d like me to refresh the edge, i will happily do so if you return it to me with shipping back to you prepaid.

Enjoy the process. I hope it gives generations of use.

This is my original SNK design(scramasax neck knife)

Your new Knife is hand made from 01 Tool Steel heat treated to HRC62-63.

This is a high carbon tool steel and will rust if not cared for. I recommend caring for it as you would a gun.

gp106Thank you for your business.

Your new knife is hand cut from 1/4″ 1095 high carbon steel. Heat treated/tempered to HRC 62-63.

This steel, being high carbon will rust if not cared for properly. I recommend treating it as you would a firearm. Should the blade rust, simply wire brush or scrub with a scotchbright pad and lubricate. The finish will stain and discolor with use, this is normal and should be viewed as such. Like good cast iron cookware, this process only adds to the character of the blade.

The sheath is tension fit and will be snug. This is done so you can wear it with confidence in any position trusting that it will stay securely in its sheath until you need it. It will loosen some with age. Force it home with confidence, and ensure the final click of a full seat.

Sharpen using any common method. If you would like me to tune the blade or do a handle re-wrap at any time, get in touch for a shipping address, sent it to me with instructions AND return postage and I will get it back to you ASAP for no charge.

I hope this blade give many generations of quality use.

Thank you,

gp47First off, let me thank you for your patience. As previously noted, I am a one man show. I do everything in house with the exception of my engraving. As I’m not the only customer at my engraver’s, sometimes I have to wait my turn in his Que.

That said, some info on your new blade:

Made from Crucible Industries CPM S35VN steel, heat treated to HRC 60-61

This is a premium stainless steel, but it can and will still stain/rust if not given a small amount of care. If it’s going to be stored long term I recommend a light coat of lard or heavy oiling of the sheath. If it does stain/rust, just scrub with steel wool/scotch bright/wire brush, oil with any gun oil, cooking oil or even WD-40, sharpen and put back to use.

Design:

The owner of Sofrep is a former Teammate and current friend of mine. He asked me to design a functional cutting tool that would be easy to maintain, easy to sharpen and offer multiple features. The square nose is extremely durable yet still offers 2 points that will penetrate well. The chisel grind on the primary edge is razor sharp and very easy to maintain and replicate. There is a bottle opener on the spine and a flat head screwdriver behind the notch at the handle end of the blade. The blade is 2″ wide and has a very subtle arc, this allows it to be used very effectively as a draw knife and causes it to bite deep instead of glancing off when swung at a target.

The sheath will be very tight when new.

The sheath will be very tight when new. Leather will stretch and relax as it ages. Oil it and let it age and darken. BE VERY CAREFUL INSERTING AND REMOVING THE KNIFE FROM THE SHEATH! IT WILL CUT ITS OWN PATH THROUGH THE LEATHER IF YOU GET IN A HURRY. IT NEEDS TO BE PULLED OUT AND RETURNED IN A STRAIGHT LINE. KEEP APPENDAGES CLEAR OF THE CUTTING EDGE! IT IS VERY SHARP!

The Finish:

The finish is a product of 5 things. 1) The production marks from the foundry at production time. 2) Oxidation from the oven at 2000 degrees for hardening. 3) Scale from the oil quench. 4) Peening from an hour in a tumbler with 700 lbs of steel media. 5) Hand cleaning with a medium grit scotch-bright belt. I call it a functionally attractive finish. One you don’t have to worry about damaging, so you’re more likely to use the blade and not just admire it.

Finally, you’ll find a business card enclosed with 10% Off written on the back. I welcome you to use this for an entire order from SH9 Edge Works at any point in the future on anything I produce including custom work. I would appreciate it if you only use it once.

Thank you for your time, please enjoy your new knife. I hope it serves you well for generations.

gp28The Spleen Splitter

Tanto style small blade made from a heavy stock to give some heft to the relatively small design. 3 1/2″ blade with a full handle. This run is from CPM s35vn, heat treated to HRC 60-61. This is a high carbon stainless steel and requires little in the way of care and maintenance. Should it show any rust or staining, brush with a good wire brush or medium scotch bright pad, oil and put it back to use. Sharpen using any common method.

The kydex sheath is set up to be worn horizontally on a belt, blade up or down and ambidextrous. I’ve all included a length of 550 cord, to allow the blade to be worn as a neck knife. The tension fit of the sheath will allow this type of carry as well.

THE BLADE IS SHARP! Be careful with it until you get the tension of the sheath figured out.

Thank you for your business.
